Design Manager â" Civils

Description: is looking of Design Manager â" Civils right now, this occupation will be delegated in England. Work with NR and the signalling delivery partner during the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase to develop cost effective design solutions (scope, programme & cost) to the civil engineering scope of! works.
Work with design organisations, both internal and external, to deliver âapproved for constructionâ (AFC) design, followed in due course by âas-builtsâ.
Manage the interfaces of civils design with other disciplines (track, ETE, signalling) through the IDC process.
Monitor progress of design delivery, identify areas for improvement and take action to resolve outstanding issues.
Ensure that critical dates are met within agreed cost.
Ensure design risk assessments are carried out and that residual risk is transferred to the construction teams.
Work with the construction teams to ensure buildability considerations are incorporated into design.
Report monthly to the CEM on design progress and critical issues which need to be addressed.
Ensure that all assurance documentation covering the design process is progressively produced and lodged into the Document Control system.
Liaise with ! NR to ensure the processes established will deliver the requir! ements of the contract.
Work with the CAD Manager to initially assist designers in becoming CAD compliant, ultimately arranging audits to demonstrate CAD compliance
Develop appropriate KPIs to show progress of design deliverables against target cost.
Chair regular design progress meetings, issuing minutes and actions. Demonstrate follow up of actions.
Assist in the audit of the design process.
Experience and Background
Knowledge and experience of rail industry standards, in particular those relating to civil engineering design and construction.
Previous involvement with the IDC process.
Evidence of professional competency via membership of a relevant professional body, educational standard reached and / or experience gained.
Application of value engineering process.
Previous experience of working as a Contractorâs Responsible Engineer (CRE) would be beneficial.
