Gazprom Marketing & Trading Ltd (GM&T) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gazprom, a worldâs largest natural gas producer, and was formed in 1999 to establish a marketing and! trading platform in the UK and Western Europe. Since 2004 GM&T has grown rapidly and now employs over 1000 people in London, Manchester, Paris, Berlin, Houston, Singapore and Switzerland. Focused on liberalised energy markets, GM&T trades wholesale gas and LNG, retails gas to commercial and large industrial customers and more recently trades commodities such as power, physical oil, carbon and other clean energy products (e.g. biomass).
We are looking for an experienced energy and commodity trading compliance professional that has in-depth experience of ensuring compliance with applicable financial services legislation, particularly from an unauthorised firm/business perspective. The candidate will have energy market experience, be adaptable, and enjoy operating within a trading environment, working closely with Front Office staff.
Role objectives
This is a permanent role within a relatively recently established Global Compliance team. The team is resp! onsible for ensuring that GM&T trading activities globally are! conducted in compliance with applicable financial services legislation, including market abuse, anti-money laundering and anti-bribery, as well as FSA regulatory requirements. This involves developing and implementing compliance frameworks to manage and mitigate regulatory compliance risk worldwide.
Duties & Responsibilities
Providing timely and independent advice and guidance on transactions, new products & business initiatives from a compliance perspective
Developing and maintaining best practice policies in key areas of compliance (AML, ABC, Market Conduct etc.) across all jurisdictions and making sure they remain up to date
Monitoring financial regulatory developments across all jurisdictions and providing timely and independent interpretation of the new regulatory requirements and their implications for the business
Maintaining awareness of potential compliance issues and managing such issues to successful resolution, worki! ng closely with Front Office colleagues
Implementing systems of work, processes and procedures which deliver effective operational compliance with GM&Tâs regulatory obligations
Identifying, monitoring and escalating regulatory breaches and ensuring any procedural or control enhancements are implemented and adhered to
Undertaking risk based compliance monitoring as directed, covering OTC and exchange trading activity, suspicious transactions, adherence to exchange rules, AML and Anti-Bribery monitoring, etc
Developing and maintaining an anti-bribery framework which meets the requirements of the UK Bribery Act
Conducting a Group-wide Compliance Risk Assessment covering the whole suite of compliance risks (AML, ABC, Market Conduct etc.)
Conducting training on key compliance policies and applicable regulatory requirements, contributing to development of relevant training materials
Taking operational responsibility for ! key business lines undertaking themed reviews, implementing compliance ! monitoring and reporting routines
Contributing as required to any relevant multi-functional projects within GM&T that require compliance input and expertise
Supporting FSA authorisation process
Developing excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a compelling advocate for Compliance
Providing support and guidance to GM&Tâs subsidiaries on compliance related matters
Acting as a senior member of the Compliance Team, supporting other members of the Team as required
Further ad hoc duties as directed by the Head of Compliance

Experience
A senior compliance professional with in-depth operational experience of energy and commodity trading compliance, preferably from an unauthorised firm/business perspective
Experience of developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures
Experience of assessing transactions, new products & business initiatives, assessing compliance risk and advising Front Office staff on compliance risk mitigation
Experience of auditing and monitoring trading activities and impl! ementing compliance processes and/or monitoring routines, preferably fr! om an unauthorised firm/business perspective
A solid understanding of international wholesale energy markets and EU energy market developments. Knowledge of OTC and exchange trading
An in-depth knowledge of applicable UK and EU financial services legislation, including AML, ABC, Market Conduct, as well as the FCA Handbook
Knowledge of MiFID, MAD, EMIR, Dodd Frank, REMIT and their practical implications
Education
Degree or equivalent qualification
Compliance qualifications an advantage but not essential
