Financial Controller
Our client is a global markets and financial advisory firm looking for someone to join their team as Financial Controller.
Responsi! bilities:
- The monthly bookkeeping for all UK, European and Asian entities in Sage, within the given timeframe
- Manage the flow of information from and/or to the finance department
- Completion of all supporting schedules and reconciliations on an at least a monthly basis
- Review and sign off of month end journals
- Oversight of Accounts payable and Accounts Receivable for all non USA entities
- Reconciliation of all Intercompany positions across the group
- Oversight of the payroll function for all non USA entities, ensuring these are correctly reflected on Sage
- Produce timely monthly Management accounts for all entities
- Produce ad hoc financial reporting for management
- Contribute to the annual budget setting
- Contribute to forecasts, trend analysis and variance commentary
- Identify gaps and develop synergies in management reporting to ensure no duplication of efforts and! a more streamlined process
- Support the implementatio! n of process re-engineering with on-going responsibility to ensure all accounting controls are operating effectively by ensuring data entry, tracking and analysis are delivered to required accuracy standards and timeframes
- Compile the files for all non USA audits on an ongoing basis
- Liaise with auditors to completion of the audit
- Prepare the financial statements for all Non USA entities stand alone, including disclosure notes
- Be up to date on local GAAPS for disclosures and accounting treatments
- Prepare and complete consolidated financial statements, with full support
- Coordinate and close off global audits in an accurate, timely and cost effective manner
- Coordinate with FSA outsourced providers to prepare and complete all necessary regulatory returns, for stand-alone entities and consolidation purposes
- Work with the in house Head of Compliance on all high level Regulatory/Compliance Risk documents where! required
- Ensure all Regulatory and Compliance deadlines are adhered to
- Sound knowledge of the mechanics of Regulatory reporting
- To manage the quarterly partially exempt group VAT reporting
- Work with several stakeholders within the business to gain a full appreciation of information required to fulfil this task in time
- Must be analytical and with strong attention to detail. Deliver work at a high standard.
- Good understanding of investment banking industry and in particular broker dealer activities
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, as well as plan and delegate. Ability to plan and utilise team resources efficiently.
- Good judgement - demonstrates the ability to problem solve and make decisions.
- Demonstrates commercial awareness.
- Audit experience, or proven understanding of audit approaches and methodologie! s.
- Experience of working with large scale, global, interactive! accounting systems preferably Sage.
- FSA regulatory experience would be highly advantageous
