Goldman Sachs’ Strats business unit is a world leader in developing quantitative and technological techniques to solve complex business problems. Working! within the firm’s trading, sales, banking and investment management divisions, strats use their mathematical and scientific training to create financial products, advise clients on transactions, measure risk, and identify market opportunities.
Infrastructure (Infra) Strats are part of Core Strategies. They are also responsible for consulting on systems, network utilization, database logistics, and managing migration of systems. The Infra Strats own the front-line trading databases; software build, test & deployment services; supplies of market data and configuration broadcast for Strategies.
The global team (located in New York, London and Asia) also has operational responsibilities such as supporting and monitoring emails, and answering inquiries. The team is responsible for development using Python and Perl scripting languages. Communications skills are also key as there are frequent interactions between strategists, traders, salespeople and other div! isions in the firm.
Responsibilities include manageme! nt and design of core technologies for the firm’s risk management and pricing system:
- The build, deployment and runtime environment for many millions of lines of C++ /Java /Python/Perl C#
- A schedule based cross platform distributed computing system (utilising graph theory and Linux)
- An on demand cross platform distributed computing system (utilising Python / Linux)
- Ensuring the aforementioned systems are engineered with high levels of resiliency, security and performance.
- Educated to Masters level in a computer related subject (for example computing, computer networks, software engineering)
- Excellent knowledge of Python, Linux administration and graph theory is required.
- Strong risk manag! ement engineering skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong problem solving and project management experience
