Location - This role is based in Telemetryâs fabulous UK office that offers stunning panoramic views over London.
The Systems Administrator will be part ! of a team that is responsible for maintaining a high availability global infrastructure that works around the clock.From your experience as a Systems Administrator your attention to detail will enable you to identify limitations in systems and to build a solution that you are able to deploy with no effect on service.As a Systems Administrator your programming and scripting experience enables you to integrate disparate systems by building the glue or amending existing code to fit square pegs into circular holes.
The Systems Administrator will also be responsible for provisioning and providing support for systems used internally, including directory, mail, VoIP, VPN and file servers.
Key responsibilities
Maintain and monitor a 24x7x365 global infrastructure.
Provide out-of-hours support and service monitoring according to team rota.
Innovate, develop, and deploy solutions that improve the services the Infrastructure team supports.
Review and build! upon code from the development team using your expertise to r! eady it for deployment.
Write software and scripts to automate tasks and improve scalability
Assist staff using services provided by Infrastructure.
Diagnose and analyse data collection anomalies found either internally or sourced from external clients.
Use in-house, as well as third party tools to continually test our global service and survey its performance.

Checked HTTP/ SMTP with a telnet completing whole request/ response session manually
Ever wrote jabber/ email/ irc robots forget robots. Ever wrote anything which made you/your team/your clients life easier. Whether it was written in C, Python, Ruby, Perl - it is all good.
Dealt with SQL indexes and can tell when they are praise and when they are curse connected ! multiple private networks over WAN

Qualifications and! experience
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Evidence of being a member of a team of system and/or network engineers within a fast moving and changing environment.Advantageous to have maintained a high availability service.
Able to program in one or more dynamic languages (eg. Python and Perl) and write scripts in Shell.Familiarity with regular expressions, revision control systems (eg. SVN and git), C and PHP advantageous.Must be competent with the use of tools such as sed, awk, uniq, grep, xargs, sort and diff.
Understands the workings of IPv4 and IPv6, as well as the higher layers such as TCP and UDP, routing at the IP layer and familiar with the use of IPsec.Must be comfortable and competent using tcpdump and wireshark to diagnose networking problems.
Tracing and debugging of software, with and without sourcecode, using log files, process tracers (analysis of userspace/ kernel interaction) and debuggers.
At least three years experience main! taining via the command line Linux (preferably Debian) servers (physical) and at least one with virtual/container environments (eg. Xen, LXC, OpenVZ).Some Microsoft AD and Exchange experience advantageous.
Comfortable with DNS, DHCP, SMTP, HTTP (including proxies), SSL, SSH, SQL, syslog, IPv4 NATing and stateful/stateless firewalling with iptables.Advantageous to be familiar with NFS, Samba, LDAP, RADIUS, 802.1X, organisational wide wireless network managment, QoS (Linux tc qdisc/ class), IPIP/ GRE tunneling, VPN technologies and VoIP/ SIP.
At least one year of experience managing a Ethernet network using managed switches, including but not limited to VLANs, channel bonding and spanning-tree management.Experience of Cisco IOS is desirable.
Use of SAN technologies (eg. Fibre Channel and iSCSI) and storage management tools (eg. LVM and ZFS)
